Bloomsburg University Head Coach Mike Collins announced recently the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Collins is in his tenth season with the Huskies, was named the 2014 PSAC East Coach of the Year. Bloomsburg comes off a 28-19 campaign in 2014, including a 20-8 mark in the PSAC East, which earned them second place in the division.
Collins on the 2015 recruiting class:
"Pitching was our priority this year and I???m very pleased with the two young men that signed NLI???s last week. First and foremost they are excellent students. In the classroom they fit the profile of a Bloomsburg University Baseball Player. On the mound, they both attack the strike zone which is a hallmark of our pitching staff. Last spring we registered 226 strikeouts and walked 100, that???s the best ratio in our Eastern division and 100 walks is the second lowest total in the conference. I believe these guys will help us maintain that level of efficiency."
2015 Early Commits
RHP Mark Bobko (St. Joseph HS, NJ)
Collins: Mark is a 6' 175lb RHP from Metuchen, NJ. He has a wiry, athletic frame that translates well
mechanically on the mound. Bobko split his time between pitching and playing shortstop for the
Falcons, earning All Middlesex County 1st Team accolades from the GMC Coaches, the NJ Star Ledger
and the Home News Tribune, as well as being named to the Star Ledger All Non Public 3rd Team. For his
efforts, Bobko was also nominated for the GMC Underclass All Star Game and the Garden State
Underclass Game. The right hander spent this past summer playing for Full Count Baseball.
LHP Wyatt Beakler (Northern Lebanon HS, PA)
Collins: Wyatt is a 5???11??? 155 pound left-handed pitcher from Jonestown, PA. Like Mark Bobko, he has a wiry, strong build. He was a member of the 2013 Lebanon County Championship team. In 2014 he was his team MVP, he was 1st Team All Section and 1st Team All County. As a junior he recorded 55 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched with a 1.28 ERA. He pitched with great effectiveness for the PA Select travel team in the fall of 2014.
