APPLETON, WI – The first quarterfinal game of the day saw Kimberly take on Indian Trail. About an hour and a half later, Kimberly Brice Swick threw his last pitch of a complete game shutout and a 3-0 Papermaker win.
The Papermakers got on the board in their first at bats thanks to some costly Hawks defense. The first two batters of the game reached on infield errors, scoring the first run of the game after Indian Trail threw it around the infield. Ben Carew followed with an RBI single to make it an early 2-0 lead, and that proved to be enough for Swick.
Indian Trail managed five hits scattered amongst seven innings but never could push a run across. Some costly outs on the base paths led to the Hawks running themselves out of potential rally innings.
Kimberly added one more for insurance in the seventh on a Griffin Hawley double. Indian Trail put a threat together in the seventh with Gavin Lux and Kyle Antos leadin the inning off with back to back hits, but Swick retired the next three in order to advance the Papermakers to tonights Semifinal round.
Kimberly will take on the winner of Milwaukee Reagan and River Falls.
