Unsigned Senior Spotlight: MIF Nick McLees
January 22, 2014

Scouting Director – Wisconsin/Illinois
Yesterday we highlighted Taylor Grimm’s performance at the January 12 Unsigned Senior Showcase but he wasn’t the only Wisconsin prospect to perform well. Nick McLees (Marquette, 2014) also found himself ranked as one of the top infielders at the event.
McLees ranked as one of the top three infielders in a talented group at the Unsigned Senior Showcase.
McLees is a 5-foot-9, 180-pound athletic infielder. Defensively he has quick, fluid footwork, soft hands and a quick release. He moves athletically and takes aggressive angles to the ball. His arm works loose from a high ¾ slot and his throws are accurate with solid carry at 80 mph. McLees also ran a 7.6 60.
At the plate he hits from a balanced, open stance, smooth backward loading action and short stride. He incorporates his lower half well in the swing while maintaining excellent balance through contact. He has above average bat speed with a solid approach. His rhythmic swing sprayed line drives from gap-to-gap showing excellent bat control.
McLees is certainly one of the top middle infielders available in the state and will be seeing his stock rise after his impressive showing at the Unsigned Senior Showcase.
