PBR Wisconsin’s Unsigned Senior Showcase is just over two weeks away on October 11 at Players Choice of the Fox Cities in Appleton, WI and we will be previewing several of the top players in attendance.
Currently one of the top 100 players in the state, OF Chase Scharnek, is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound two-way player from Waukesha West HS. This summer Scharnek was a first team a-conference selection in the Classic 8, hitting .341 with five doubles and 16 RBI in 29 games played.
Scharnek has a long frame with a slender build. The left handed hitter hits from a wide stance with a short stride. Above average bat speed, registered a 90 mph exit velocity from the tee at a previous PBR showcase. Defensively plays in the outfield with two hands, over the top arm action. Above average footspeed, 4.01 runner down the line.
On the mound, Scharnek’s arm works from an over the top slot with some effort. His fastball is mostly straight, 81-82 mph, touched 83 mph. His slider has depth with more downward action at 71-75 mph. His straight changeup flashed sink at 70-72 mph.
