Isaiah Strassburg is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound left handed pitcher with a strong frame. Currently ranked No. 48 in the state, Strassburg hails from Chippewa Falls HS in northwest Wisconsin.
Strassburg works from a full windup, with a delivery showing some effort. He operates from high ¾ arm slot with a long rigid action.
In January of 2013 at the Prospect Identification Showcase, Strassburg’s fastball featured late run at 80-82 mph while sitting 78-79 mph from the stretch. His curveball has 11/5 shape with bending action at 65-66 mph. He also showed a changeup with fading action and occasional sink at 66-69 mph.
Strassburg has yet to make any college visits but plans on doing so soon. He has currently seen little interest but when asked what schools he has received attention from he said, “Eastern Illinois”.
Playing in the northwest part of the state Strassburg’s season was cut short due to weather as Chippewa Falls went 5-11 on the season. The shortened season certainly played some part in the lack of exposure Strassburg has seen.
In the summer months Strassburg plays for the Chippewa Falls American Legion and is looking for a fall team to play with.
He is hoping to major in either engineering or law enforcement in college and according to Strassburg is carrying a GPA between 2.6-2.8 and is set to take the ACT in October.
