Super 60 Recap: Wisconsin's Finest Show Off Talents

The Super 60 is fairly new to Wisconsin players as last year Nathan Mikolas (Bradford HS, 2012) was the first Wisconsin prep star to attend the Super 60. Last year the event proved fruitful for Mikolas as he showed scouts that he is a pro ready offensive threat. The New York Yankees put enough stock into him to select him in the 3rd round of the June amateur draft in 2012. This year we saw four Wisconsin seniors invited to attend the prestigious event and all got the opportunity to showcase themselves in front of over 80 pro scouts, agents, and media members; all with the hopes of one day putting on a big league uniform.

Evan Kruczynski (Franklin HS, East Carolina, LHP, 2013) climbed the charts on Sunday as he featured a commandable fastball at 86-88 mph. His long, lean, left handed frame at 6-foot-5, 175-pounds makes him a scouts dream to project on. Kruczynski will undoubtably see plenty of pro attention over the coming years as he is certainly one to keep an eye on as his lean frame fills out.

Dan Jansen (Appleton West HS, Jacksonville, C, 2013) also caught some attention as the 6-foot-2, 215 pound catcher displayed soft hands while receiving some of the best fastball in the Midwest.  His 1.97 pop time didn’t hurt either while he also showed power potential in his bat.

Nick Kanavas (Brookfield East HS, Arizona, SS, 2013) showed off the biggest arm of the day across the infield as the Arizona commit was 87 mph to first base. He also showed solid hands and athletic feet running a 6.91 60.

Clark Eagan (Appleton North HS, Arkansas, OF, 2013) also showed quick feet as the left handed hitting Arkansas commit ran a 6.94. Eagan also had one of the better exit velocities of the day topping out at 92 mph. Eagan will be interesting to watch with the bat when the thinly built outfielder begins to fill out.

As the scouts prepare their lists of players to follow this spring, only time will tell to see if one of these Wisconsin seniors will see their name called in June.
