Today’s stock report is on Tyrus Grunenwald. Grunenwald is a Class of 2014 product from Merrill HS who comes from a long line of Grunenwald’s to come through Merrill HS and go on to the next level. Tyrus is the younger brother of two other Grunenwald’s who have played for the Bluejays.

Nick Grunenwald was a 2005 graduate of Merrill HS who went on to play for Louisiana Tech where he ended his career tied for fourth in all-time stolen bases and a four time Academic All-WAC winner.

Tyrus’s other brother Alex is currently a senior infielder at University of Illinois-Chicago. After transferring from Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Alex was a second team all-conference selection as well as being named to the All-Newcomer Team.

If Tyrus can follow in his brother’s footsteps he should have a very promising college career ahead of him.

Tyrus Grunenwald started every game last year as a sophomore for the Bluejays, splitting time between third a second base. This year Coach Artac expects Tyrus to be the everyday shortstop. The 6-foot, 175-pound switch hitting Grunenwald will look to make a big impact for the Bluejays in 2013.
