Preseason Preview: Berlin
February 5, 2015
By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Supervisor – Wisconsin/Illinois
The Wisconsin high school season kicks off on March 31, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on March 23, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups. Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.
We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team.
If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.
Berlin
2014 Record: 3-17
WIAA Classification: 2
Conference: Eastern Valley
Head Coach: Bryant Bednarek
2014 Playoff Run: Lost regional opener
Returning Starters: 7
Returning Pitchers: 2
TOP PLAYERS
Carter Jodarski, P/SS, 2016
Justice Keller, C, 2015
OUTLOOK
Berlin will be returning a wealth of starters, seven across the field and two on the mound. The Indians will look to be led by senior Carter Jodarski both on the mound and at shortstop after Jodarski hit .302 in 2014. Junior Justice Keller should be a steady play for Berlin behind the dish, eclipsing the .300 mark last year as a sophomore. Berlin depth could be question mark for them as they get deep into the season.
If you are a high school coach and have yet to send in your Preseason Questionnaire please fill one out HERE.
