GREEN BAY, WI – The top-seeded Bay Port Pirates advanced to the sectional finals with a 4-0 win over Ashwaubenon behind a sparkling performance from Connor Hock on the mound.
The Jaguars were able to hang around for most of the game, but Bay Port was ultimately the better team on the day.
The Pirates got on the board first in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to a sac fly from leadoff man Logan Froberg.
The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 5th when the Pirates added two more runs via a booming double to left from Joe Baier. In the bottom of the 6th, Alec Ingold singled in another run to make the score 4-0 in favor of Bay Port.
The Jaguars hit the ball hard many times off of Hock, but they lined out straight to the defense several times.
Hock finished the game with seven strikeouts and three walks, while surrendering only four hits. Turner Wittig pitched for Ashwaubenon and went five innings, scattered six hits and gave up four earned runs.
Brady DeBouche led Bay Port at the plate, going 2-for-3 and Baier went 1-3 with the 2 RBI double. Chase Kupsh went 2-for-3 to pace Ashwaubenon.
