Game Recap: Sun Prairie tops Beloit Memorial 5-4

SUN PRAIRIE- On a damp spring night the Cardinals of Sun Praire would endure all that they could handle against a tough Beloit Knights squad. In a back and forth game Sun Prairie would prevail 5-4.
Ryan Curran was strong on the mound for the cardinals going 6 and 2/3 innings. The junior struck out 11 Knight batters while walking 4. He showed good poise handling the elements on a windy rainy night.
The Cardinals would score first with two runs in the second. Curran and Garvey would score after having back to back singles in the inning. But, Beloit Memorial would blow the doors open in the third scoring four runs off two hits, two walks and two errors.
The final three runs scored by the Cardinals looked very similar to the second. Curran and Garvey would have back to back singles to lead off the inning. The go ahead run would be driven in by a double from Brian Assalone.
Beloit had a stand out day from Patrick Whalen going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Stand outs for Sun Prairie were Ryan Curran 2-for-3, Brian Assalone 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a walk, and Mike Garvey going 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.
Sun Prairie goes to 9-2 on the year with the win, and Beloit Memorial falls to 7-3.
