Bradford 9, Tremper 6
KENOSHA, WI – The Tremper Trojans made the crosstown trip to take on the Bradford Red Devils at Wavro Field on Thursday. The Southeastern Conference matchup featured last year’s conference champs in Bradford against the runner-up Tremper Trojans.
With seven games already under their belt the Red Devils (5-3) looked far more comfortable on the field as the Trojans (1-1) were taking the field for only the second time. Bradford came out scoring early and often eventually holding on for the 9-6 victory over Tremper.
Bradford got two in the first after a single by senior Tony DeBartolo. The Red Devils followed that up in the second with a solo shot over the right field fence by junior first baseman Ty Jandrowski.
Colton Lee set the tone early on the mound retiring the first six batters in a row. The Trojans however would not go lightly as they touched Lee up for three runs in the third thanks in large part to a clutch double by senior outfielder Kyle Jones.
The Red Devils answered the Trojans efforts with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the third. Sophomore Kyle Schulz came through with a two RBI single. Schulz ended the day reaching base four out of his five plate appearances with three singles and three RBI.
Tremper did not go lightly putting up three more runs in the fifth to tie the game at 6, helped by some Red Devil defensive miscues. Junior Andrew Luscomb and Schulz put the Red Devils in front for good both coming through with RBI hits in the bottom of the sixth.
Unsigned senior Colton Lee would finish the game out for Bradford going seven strong innings allowing just three earned runs and striking out three to pick up the win.
Kyle Jones and Zach Wade both got two hits for Tremper.
