Discovering new talent is one of the perks of being a scout and recently we got the chance to see RHP/SS Nathan Brown (Arrowhead, 2016) for the first time. Brown is impressive to say the least. He has a projectable build at 6-foot-2, 175-pound two-way player.Nathan Brown

On the mound Brown has a high ceiling. His delivery is athletic with good direction and stays online. His arm action is long, loose, free and easy and works from a high ¾ arm slot. His fastball has excellent run with slight sink and showed command of the zone at 82-83 mph. His slider has short quick biting action at 70-73 mph on a 10/4 plane. His slider is advanced for his age and has swing and miss potential. His changeup also has advanced action with plus potential, it shows advanced fading action to his arm side with excellent feel at 72-74 mph. Brown also shows a curveball that works on an 11/5 plane at 68-71 mph.

Brown also showed abilities as a position player displaying soft hands and well above average actions at shortstop. At the plate his advanced bat path created 86 mph exit velocities and proved to be a gap to gap type hitter.

Brown is still in the early stages of his recruiting process and said he has made visits to Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. On top of that Brown said he has also been in contact with Missouri.

Brown said,

“I'm looking for a competitive program with a dedicated coaching staff. I would like a program to challenge me to be the best player I can be.”

As Brown’s game continues to grow, he said he will be playing for STiKS Academy in the summer, forgoing his summer high school season.

Brown recently dropped in at No. 7 in the recent update of the 2016 state rankings, his first time making the list. He is definitely a high follow in Wisconsin as he looks to be one of the top arms in his class and should see his name in the overall rankings when the list is next updated.
