The Prep Baseball Report recently held an Unsigned Senior Showcase at The MAX right outside of Chicago, IL. Several Wisconsin players were in attendance and this week we are unveiling our top prospects at each position.
Taylor Grimm (Cedarburg) ranked as the top catcher in attendance at the Unsigned Senior Showcase. Grimm performed well for the more than 35 colleges in attendance.
At 6-foot, 205-pounds, his strong sturdy build with wide shoulders and solid lower half is a prototypical catcher’s body. Defensively he showed solid receiving skills and a strong arm that showed accuracy to the bag with carry at 73 mph out of the crouch. His pop times ranged from 2.09-2.18. Grimm also showed well at third base with one of the best infield arms of the day at 85 mph across the infield.
Offensively he hits from a balanced stance using a short stride. He uses lower half well and maintains solid balance throughout. Grimm showed above average bat speed and posted 89 mph exit velocity. He looks to be a line drive type hitter with gap to gap power.
Grimm certainly left an impression on the coaches in attendance and should see plenty of attention after his recent showing.
