For the fifth week in a row, Liberty Christian Academy holds on to the top spot in the Power 25 rankings as the Bulldogs posted dominant wins over Jefferson Forest and North Cross. The rest of the Top 5 is also unchanged. Western Branch posted wins over Top 10 opponents Nansemond River (7-4) and Grassfield (9-6). St. John’s also had a three win week, winning tight games against quality opponents Lake Braddock (3-2), Paul VI (3-0), and Gonzaga (4-1).
Loudoun Valley and Millbrook round out the Top 10 as they both remain undefeated. Valley won all three of its games this week, but their shutout streak unfortunately came to an end at 6 games as the allowed an unearned run on Saturday against Loudoun County.
Oakton remained undefeated on the season and moves up to No. 11. Deep Run moves up to No. 12 after winning a tight game over Glen Allen (3-2). The Rapids also have wins over Lee-Davis and Douglas Freeman this season.
Atlantic Shores Christian and Greenbrier Christian carried the momentum from their strong spring trips as they both posted 3-1 weeks and moved up in the rankings.
Staunton River re-enters this week’s rankings as they remain undefeated with dominant wins over Liberty (Bedford) and James River (Buchanan). Also new to the rankings this week is Colonial Heights, which also still has not lost this spring.
Nansemond River lost to Western Branch as they continue to fight through one of the tougher schedules a VHSL school will play. They remain in the Top 20 due to their wins over Hanover, Hickory, and Jamestown. Two of their other losses are to Great Bridge and Grassfield. Great Bridge also remains ranked despite a two loss week. Three of their losses are to Western Branch, Grassfield, and Hickory, and they have wins over Hanover and Nansemond River.
Falling out of this week’s rankings are Stone Bridge and Battlefield. Stone Bridge lost to South Lakes (1-0) and Battlefield fell to Colonial Forge (8-3)
