Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Stonewall Jackson's Hogan LePore
October 22, 2014
Name: Hogan LePore
High School: Stonewall Jackson
Position: OF
Scouting report on LePore from the summer:
LePore is a 5-foot-8, 147 pound OF with an athletic frame. He hits from a slightly open stance and utilized a tap step for rhythm and separation. He showed the ability to hit with some gap power and had quick hands. He was inconsistent getting his foot down which caused him to get beat on some balls but did show the ability to stay through the baseball. In the outfield, LePore used his speed (6.90 60 yard dash) to get to the baseball. He was able to take good routes to the baseball and got rid of the baseball quickly. LePore threw from a 3/4 slot which hampered his throws. He has the ability to be an above average thrower with some mechanical changes.
Analysis:
LePore projects to be a line-drive hitter who can mix in some extra base hits. His speed makes him a threat to steal bases and allows him to project as a top of the order type of hitter with some pop. His speed will play well in the outfield and, with a few mechanical adjustments to his throwing motion, he will have a strong enough arm to play all three outfield spots effectively.
