Brentwood Academy opens their season with a March 9 contest at Ensworth High School. As the Eagles begin to prepare for the season, Head Coach Buddy Alexander thinks he has a senior that colleges need to know about.
Ryan Victory is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound, left-handed hitting prospect who fills multiple roles for Brentwood. Victory plays third base, pitches, catches, and plays first base, proving to be a versatile utility player for Coach Alexander’s Eagles.
“Ryan is a very versatile player defensively, a good sound offensive player, and a great teammate,” Alexander stated. “His best position is at third base, but our team needs him more at first base so that’s where he sees the most time for us. He also plays for a quality summer program and was primarily a catcher for them.”
Alexander says Victory plays an important role for the Brentwood program on the mound as well.
“Ryan made starts on the mound for us as a freshman and has been a front line pitcher in our rotation ever since,” he stated.
Alexander went on to talk about Victory’s character and academic abilities.
“Just recently, Ryan was awarded with a $2,000 scholarship by the Old Timers Baseball Association in Nashville given to players who exhibit high academic standards and who have given back to the community,” he said. “He may not wow you in a showcase with speed, power, or velocity, but if you’re looking for a solid character kid who is a complete baseball player, I would highly recommend him.”
