Day three at the Prep Baseball Report Future Games was another beautiful day for baseball, and Team Select collected another win in front of another packed house of scouts to bring their final record to 3-0. This time it was against a very talented Team Kansas.  

Tyler Thompson (2016, Hardin Valley Academy) again got things started on the mound, where again he didn't fail to impress.  Though only throwing one inning, Thompson showed he can bounce back and pitch on consecutive days.  He still had his full arsenal of pitches and his velocity was still in the high 80's.

“Every time I pitch my goal is to put my team in position to win,” Thompson said.  “Though I only pitched one inning in both of my appearances, I thought I did just that.  My experience with PBR was amazing.  I enjoyed making new friends from different states.  We bonded together and ended up having a great weekend.  I look forward to coming back to future PBR events.  It was a great experience, and I am thankful to be seen by so many high-level college baseball programs.” 

Duncan Pence (2016, Farragut HS) solidified his case for MVP with another solid day at the plate and in the field.  He had a ground rule double to center field, walked, and scored a run in his three plate appearances. 

Pence had this to say about his weekend.

"The PBR Future Games was an incredible experience,” he stated.  “The PBR staff works tirelessly to get players seen and get their names out there to help players get recruited. The staff was fun to be around, and I met a ton of new people.  I had a great time, I thought I performed well finishing 4-for-7 with 3 walks against top notch pitching.  It made me a better ball player.” 

Jordan Mason (2017, Gallatin HS) seemed to get better as the weekend progressed.  On the last day he exhibited patience and a good eye at the plate with a base on balls, and his speed was on display when he picked up another stolen base.  Mason, one of the younger players participating during the weekend, said the Future Games was a learning experience.

"This was definitely a learning experience for me,” Mason said.  “I realize that there are areas of my game I need to work on to improve.  I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a great organization.  I look forward to coming to more events and showing the progressions I have made. Thank you to Prep Baseball Report for the opportunity.”

While the three Tennessee players represented the state at this year’s Future Games, the inaugural Team Tennessee will compete at the event next summer and will be comprised of the top Class of 2017 prospects in the state.
