Game action resumed at the Tournament of Stars Saturday, but it was a condensed day as USA Baseball moved the schedule up with the potential for thunderstorms in the afternoon. Games started 30 minutes apart, commencing at 9 a.m. EST. With three games going at once, I was limited in what I was able to see, but I’ve included notes from Friday’s evaluation day as well…
+ C Lucas Herbert (San Clemente HS, CA) had a few pop times under 1.9 seconds during the workout with his throws carrying on a low trajectory to second base. That translated to his game on Saturday as he recorded to pop times of 1.9. One resulted in an out with the other being negated by a walk. Herbert also had a big day with the bat, going 3-for-4 with a double and home run. The home run came against an offspeed pitch from LHP Dylan Cyphert (Cranberry HS, PA) as he waited back and got extended, depositing the pitch over the left field wall.
