The 2016 and 2017 Overall Rankings have been updated and the 2018 list will have a new edition this week. Now, it’s time to look ahead at the freshman class. In the coming weeks, we’ll debut the Class of 2019 Overall Rankings. Listed alphabetically below are some of the top freshmen in the Prep Baseball Report coverage area.
Zach Agnos, SS/RHP, Battlefield HS, VA
Agnos is the younger brother of LHP Jake Agnos and an athletic fielder with a strong arm. He has fluid footwork and good actions to go with a clean exchange. At the plate, he hits from an open stance and has a leg kick stride with a smooth load. He has an explosive lower half and maintains balance throughout his swing. He has good bat speed and a short, fluid swing that generates line drives. Agnos also gets on the mound, where he throws from a high-3/4 slot and has a loose, quick arm that generates easy velocity. His fastball has downhill plane and slight run, sitting 79-82 mph and touching 83. His slider has late, sharp action and sits at 69. It has the chance to develop into a good offering as he gets stronger and increases the spin rate.
