It’s no secret by now that Wisconsin’s 2016 class is loaded with high-end talent, perhaps the best state has even seen. That sentiment was only cemented further at the Super 60 on Feb. 7. Performing in front of 100-plus pro scouts at the Max, Wisconsin prospects delivered in a big way.
On a whole, Wisconsin prospects collectively delivered the best round of BP (Ben Rortvedt), the top defensive shortstop (Gavin Lux), and the top three outfield velocities (Joe Acker, Cyrillo Watson and Dominic Clementi), to name a few of the highlights.
Here’s an in-depth look at all six Wisconsin position players at the Super 60:
Joe Acker, OF, Marquette HS, WI
Nebraska recruit. 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, lean and wiry-strong quick-twitch athlete. Not the most heralded prospect at the Super 60, but proved that his tools match up with any of the position players in attendance. Ran a 6.85 60 and registered an event-best 92 mph velocity from the outfield (in June at the PBR ProCase, he ran a 6.78 and was 95 from the outfield). Defensively, has true outfield actions, moves fluidly and confidently to the ball, accurate throws with plus carry. Offensively, generates easy bat speed with minimal stride/load, maintains excellent balance through contact, stays through the ball well; ball jumped off the barrel to all fields; registered 91 mph exit velocity.
