PBR Spotlight Game: East Catholic vs Windsor
East Catholic traveled to Windsor for a key matchup in the Central Connecticut Conference. East Catholic ranked number one in state had its only defeat against Windsor when they met earlier in the season. The game featured two of the better pitchers in the area, Windsor’s John Nolan (Siena) and Brandon Fox (Central CT).
Windsor got on the board quick in the bottom of the first, with two outs Nolan got hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI double to centerfield by Connor Johnson.
East Catholic tied the game at one with a run in the top of the second. Junior first baseman Tyler Gammie got things going with a one out single, followed by another single by Josh Zbierski, both runners advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a wild throw. With one out Mike Piskorz grounded out to 2nd which scored Gammie.
East Catholic added another in the top of the third on a sac fly by Logan Greene.
Windsor tied it back at two in the bottom of the fifth, Daniel Rivera led off with a single, Connor Morgan got a sac bunt down. With one out Connor Johnson’s single to center plated Rivera. Jimmy Titus (Bryant) led the eighth off with a double over the centerfielder’s head and scored one out later on Tyler Gammie’s laser to center. Titus pitched the last 2 innings, no runs on three hits and struck out four.
