In case you missed it, we had extensive coverage of the USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars last week and there is still more to come. Catch up on all the action by going to our TOS page, which is part of our national events coverage that is updated throughout the year.
Today’s mailbag touches on the draft status of an Ohio prospect and follows up on a previously answered question about the run tool for catchers. Remember, you can submit questions about the national landscape of high school baseball, the draft and big events on Prep Baseball Report’s Ask.fm feed.
Will OF D.J. Wilson (Canton South HS, OH) be a top five-round draft pick?
The 2015 Major League Draft is a little more than 11 months away, far too early to be definitively stating whether or not a player will be picked in a certain round or range. With that being said, Wilson looks to be a good prospect to follow in the 2015 class. My first look at Wilson came this week at USA Baseball's Tournament of Stars and the Vanderbilt recruit showed some tools. He collected just three hits in 18 at-bats, but he only struck out twice, showing an affinity for putting the ball in play.
