For amateur baseball, this time of year is about as fun and crazy as it gets. State champions have been crowned in Florida with much of the rest of the country in the thick of their postseason. The NCAA tournament starts on Friday with the Field of 64 being announced as I write this. And the draft is next week. We had plenty of questions about the draft come through our Ask profile recently. Here is a sampling…
Where do you see LHP Jake Latz (Lemont HS, IL) getting drafted?
Earlier this spring, a scout told me that Latz would be the steal of the draft if a team could lure him away from his Louisiana State commitment. His fastball velocity isn't sexy, but he's shown the ability to go get 90-91 mph when he needs to. He has a projectable, athletic frame, but the biggest attraction is his curveball.
