Ontario Insider: Uncommitted Underclass Spotlight - Andres Gonzalez, SS
Name: Andres Gonzalez
Position: SS
School: De La Salle College
Class: 2017
Rank: 34th in Ontario's 2017 Class
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 170-pounds
Club Team: Ontario Blue Jays
Background: Gonzalez is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound slick fielding shortstop with room to add strength gains and fill out as he matures physically. Shows great defensive actions with his glove and feet, attacks and moves through the baseball fielding balls out front, able to throw on the run and going across his body, velocity across the diamond was 78 mph at the Top Prospect Games and should see a spike in that number this spring. At the plate, Gonzalez is simple and short from the right side, adding strength will play a key role for him but there is some quick twitch in his actions. Line drive type of guy who tries to stay middle of the field, will use speed as he ran a 7.12 on a slow track this past August and make it a part of his overall game.
2016 Outlook:
