Ohio Insider: Top Underclass Uncommitted Pitching Prospects
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position. Over the past month we looked at the top 2017 prospects and as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Today we are looking at the top uncommitted underclass Pitching Prospects in Ohio. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week and as you can see by our 2018 and 2019 Player Rankings, there are numerous talented prospects available.
Right-Handed Pitchers
Cole Ayers, RHP, Loveland, 2018
Ranked: 9th in Ohio’s 2018 class
Scouting Report: Exploded on the recruiting scene with a strong summer and dominant performance at the Future Games. A very good athlete on the mound with a 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame. A very easy, clean delivery with impressive arm speed. Fastball will sit 86-88 mph and has ran it up to 90 mph on multiple occasions. Has shown the ability to hold velocity late into games. His breaking ball is a swing and miss pitch as it drops off the table at 76-80 mph on a near 12/6 plane. Also has very good feel for a changeup that he will throw in any count.
College Outlook: Has the stuff to be in a college rotation right now with an obvious competitive nature on the mound. Athleticism, frame, arm action, mechanics all indicate his stuff will only get better over the rest of his high school career. Looks like an early impact guy that could see himself in a rotation earlier rather than later in his college career.
