Ohio Insider: Top 2017 Uncommitted Two-Way Prospects
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position.
Today we are looking at the top uncommitted senior Two-Way Prospects in Ohio. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Kevin Finzer, RHP/3B, St. Edward, 2017
Ranked: 76th in Ohio’s 2017 class
Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 205-pound strong, athletic frame. A strong kid that is a good athlete for his size. Uses a leg kick to create energy with his lower half. Bat has some definite quickness and strength through the zone. Hands get tied up at times. Creates backspin to opposite field. Registered an exit velocity of 89 mph and ran a 7.17 60-yard dash. On the mound the righty has solid tempo to a delivery that requires some effort. Above average arm speed. Fastball was anywhere from 82-85 mph. Curveball had some sharpness to it with an 11/5 shape at 62-66 mph. Also flashed a changeup near fastball arm speed at 74-75 mph.
College Outlook: Right now he is more advanced on the mound. Velocity is adequate with the frame and athleticism to keep adding. Showed feel for his breaking ball and changeup, both above average pitches. Most likely a starter or long reliever at the next level. At the plate he has the physical tools to produce. Bat speed, strength, and path all translate. Right now has gap to gap pop with some unlocked juice in there.
