Ohio Insider: Top 2017 Uncommitted Catchers
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position.
Today we are starting with the top uncommitted senior catchers in Ohio. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Josh Glynn, C, Sycamore
Ranked: 63rd in Ohio’s 2017 Class
Scouting Report: 6-foot-1, 210-pound strong, athletic frame. Showed up to TPG with a noticeable more mature and physical frame than the last time we saw him. At the plate he impressed all day with his ability to work the counts and remain unbothered by velocity. Josh has calm, fluid movements to his loading sequence before letting his advanced strength and bat speed take over. Two of his three hits were driven with authority to his pull side off 87+ mph fastballs. Behind the plate the receiving and blocking skills are there. Has very quick, efficient footwork on his throws to second base. Transfer is very quick and showed off impressive 82 mph arm strength to second base.
College Outlook: He has all the physical tools for the bat to play at the next level and has shown he can produce when we’ve seen him. All signs point to him being an above average defender behind the plate as well.
