The 2014 Major League Draft takes place June 5-7. It will begin Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST with the first day consisting of the first two rounds and competitive balance rounds. The third through 10th rounds will take place on Friday and Rounds 11-40 will happen Saturday. The final two days will start at 1 p.m. EST. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Ohio has seen a run of high school pitching in recent years and that trend continues in 2014 with the strength being right-handers. Cameron Varga is a Florida transplant that has been on the radar for a few years while Jayce Vancena and Zach Willeman are late risers.

1. Cameron Varga, RHP, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH
Varga committed to Florida before playing a varsity inning, but that was when he live on the Gulf Coast and was a shortstop. He moved to Cincinnati two years later, decommitted from Florida and announced his pledge to North Carolina—as a pitcher. He has dominated inferior competition, racking up video-game like strikeout numbers with a low 90s fastball and power curveball.
