Michigan Insider: Top Underclass Uncommitted Two-Way Prospects

With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position. Over the past month we looked at the top 2017 prospects and as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.

Today we are starting with the top uncommitted underclass Two-Way prospects in Michigan. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week and as you can see by our 2018 and 2019 Player Rankings, there are numerous talented prospects available.

Class of 2018

Gaetano Vallone, OF/LHP, West Catholic, 2018
Ranking: 18th ranked player in Michigan’s 2018 class
Scouting report: Vallone has an athletic 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. He has an open stance with high hands and shows good rhythm. He has an uphill plane to his swing and has good bat speed with pull side raw power. His exit velocity was 88 mph and he ran a 4.31 home-to-1st. In the outfield he shows good range while fielding the ball with good rhythm and staying behind the ball well. His position velocity from the outfield was 84 mph.
College outlook: Vallone was a standout for Team Michigan at this past summer’s Future Games both on the mound and in the outfield. Vallone was one of the top hitters showing the ability to hit to all fields and driving the ball in the gaps. On the mound his fastball has been up to the mid-80s with a big breaking curve.
