Michigan Insider: Top 2017 Uncommitted Catchers
With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position.
Today we are starting with the top uncommitted senior catchers in Michigan. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.
Mike Maher, South Lyon
Ranked: 30th in Michigan’s 2017 class
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 170 pound athletic prospect with a wiry frame. Hits from a wide stance with hand movement. Has very fast hands and the ability to barrel the baseball. Registered a 91 mph exit velocity. One of the most athletic players at the event. Using quick feet and a good throwing arm behind the plate he popped a 2.05-2.19. Also fielded at the SS position displaying the ability to make range plays. 82 mph infield velo.
College outlook: Mike is an athletic catcher that can play all over the diamond. Has been clocked as low as a 6.65 in the 60 yard dash. While popping 1.94-2.09 to 2B. 91 mph exit velocity. Mike is one of the most athletic uncommitted prospects in the state.
