ILLINOIS WESLEYAN
After being swept by No. 1 Edwardsville (35-2) 2-1 and 8-5, in its Southwestern Conference two-game series, O’Fallon (29-9) avenged the two losses with a 3-1 win at Gordon Moore Park in Alton. Chris Holba fired a two-hitter at the top-ranked Tigers with seven strikeouts. The lone Tiger run was unearned. Dillon Weiss singled and drove home a Panther run while Nick Crabtree plated two Panther runs without the benefit of a hit.
MOUNT CARMEL
Mount Carmel (33-4) won in walk-off fashion stunning Simeon 4-2 behind Super-Frosh Alek Thomas. After Chicago Public School champion Simeon (28-4) had tied the contest at 2 in the top of the seventh, the Chicago Catholic Blue champion Caravan rallied. University of Michigan-bound Ako Thomas doubled to lead off the Caravan seventh and moved to third on a sac-bunt from Louisville-bound Josh Stowers. After UIC-bound Malik Carpenter popped up, Thomas hammered a blast over the rightfield fence at Haggerty Field, sending Caravan Nation dancing onto 64th Street.
