Saturday May 3 Games
Brother Rice 7, Loyola 3
Brother Rice (19-6; 8-2) won in dramatic fashion in Mount Greenwood on Saturday. We take you to the bottom of the seventh, in a 3-3 game, as the Crusaders come to the plate. Junior Mike Massey leads off the inning with a single to right. Massey swipes second and sophomore Andy Dyke walks. Senior Kevin Biondic flies out to right for the first out of the inning as Massey tags and takes third. Senior Erich Leiser is intentionally walked. Kyle Hilliard pops out for the second out of the inning. On a 2-0 pitch, Crusader senior Jake Barry hits a towering drive that exits the premises over the left field wall for a walk-off grand slam, sending Crusader Nation into mass-hysteria at 10001 South Pulaski Avenue.
Rockford Boylan 5, Rockford Jefferson 3
Rockford Boylan (16-6; 7-2) won a thriller over Jefferson, scoring once in the fourth to tie the game and then winning it with two runs in the fifth. Andy Cropp gave the Titans the lead when he homered to lead off the inning. Nick Rodenback followed with a triple, his second hit of the day and scored an insurance run on a sac-bunt from Nick Nalewanski. RHP Max Maney fired a seven-hitter with six strikeouts to improve to 3-0 for the season.
No.12 O’Fallon 8, Windsor (MO) 1
O’Fallon crushed its Missouri hosts at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Saturday afternoon. Bradley Harrison led the Panther attack with a single, double and three RBI. Senior RHP Tyler Herbert (5-2) fired a five hitter with seven strikeouts. Herbert did not walk a batter.
No. 20 Batavia 6, Marmion 2
Batavia (15-3-1) cruised past the Cadets behind a five-hitter from senior RHP Colby Green. Green struck out six and walked one. Senior Reagan McReynolds plated a pair of Bulldog runs and junior Steve Busby singled and had an RBI.
