SHOCKERS OF THE DAY
Mount Zion (23-10) shocked the state and No. 6 Chatham Glenwood 3-2 on Wednesday. No information was available from the victorious Braves. Glenwood bows out with a 30-4 record.
Stagg (18-15) stunned the two-time Southwest Suburban Blue champions from Lockport 4-3 behind Nick Gerzon. Nick Gerzon fired a two-hitter at the Porters allowing no earned runs and striking out four. Gerzon helped himself with a booming double and two RBI at the plate. Lockport bows out at 19-11-1.
Lincoln-Way East surprised Homewood-Flossmoor 4-3 behind Jake Pomykalski and Alonzo White. Pomykalski allowed two earned runs and eight hits in his six innings to pick up the win for the Griffins. White slammed the door on H-F (23-8) in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the save.
