TUESDAY’S STATEWIDE GAME OF THE DAY
No. 24 Normal U-High (19-1, 5-1 Cornbelt) crushed No. 22 Mahomet-Seymour 12-2 in five innings, behind Zach Frey and Jon Rink. Frey (4-1) went the distance for the win on the mound and Rink went deep with the bases full of Pioneers. Austin Galindo and Kyle Ummel, both hammered two-run shots for U-High. Mahomet-Seymour falls to 10-2 and 5-1 in the Corn Belt.

CATHOLIC CROSSOVERS
No. 3 Mount Carmel (18-1, 6-0 Catholic Blue) rolled past De La Salle 6-0 behind Aaryn Chandler and Jeremy Houston. Chandler fired six shutout innings at DeLa Salle (6-10, 1-6 CCL White) to pick up the win. Houston singled and plated two Caravan runs, while Scott Kapers chipped in with a single and an RBI. Kapers also finished up the game with a scoreless seventh inning on the mound.
No. 5 Providence (15-3, 6-0 Catholic Blue) beat DePaul 9-4 behind Shawn Harper and Mike Jerik. Harper had two singles and plated two Celtic runs, while Jerik had two hits, including a double and two RBI. Justin Hunniford went 3-for-3 for the Celtics, with a double and an RBI.
