No. 14 Carmel 8, No.18 Huntley 2
Carmel (6-2-1) scored six times in the second inning to end this showdown early. Corsairs Senior Matt Skarzynski, led off the big second with a single and would score on an RBI by sophomore Cal Coughlin. Coughlin would make it 3-1 with steal of home. Sophomore Joe Santoro added an RBI single and Illinois-bound Quintin Sefcik joined the carousel with an RBI single. Skarzynski closed out the scoring with his second hit of the inning, an RBI single. Sefcik (1-0) allowed one earned run in his five innings, allowing two hits with eight strikeouts. Skarzynski threw two scoreless innings of relief.
No. 49 Grant 4, No. 38 Rockton Hononegah 1
Illinois State-bound Simeon Lucas ripped a two-run double to lead the Bulldogs past the Indians on Wednesday. Junior Andrew Stone improved to 2-0 with the win on the mound and senior Tino Torres nailed down the save.
No. 52 Barrington 13, Vernon Hills 4
Barrington (5-3) hit host Vernon Hills with seven runs in the first inning and never looked back in Vernon Hills. The Broncos were led by junior Jake Coon, who had three hits and three RBI, while sophomore Jake Peters added two singles and two RBI. Junior Mitch Pfeiffer had two doubles and an RBI.
