Jacobs 13, Johnsburg 4
Jacobs (7-4; 4-0 Valley) hit the Skyhawks with an eight-run fourth and cruised to the FVC crossover victory. Matt Koziak had two singles, two runs scored and two RBI while Ryan Sargent doubled and had a pair of Golden Eagle RBI. Ben Murray had two doubles and an RBI.
No. 6 Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 7, No. 17 Edwardsville 0
In a Top 20 battle at Tom Pile Field, the visitors from SHG (11-1) rolled past the host Tigers. Junior RHP Peter Young (3-0) fired a five-hit shutout at the Tigers with five strikeouts. Senior Conor White singled, doubled and drove home three Cyclone runs while junior Kevin Zanger was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Senior Steve Sartore continued his hot-hitting with two more hits and an RBI. Edwardsville falls to 10-2.
No. 12 Lincoln-Way West 8, Stagg 5
Lincoln-Way West (8-0) scored six times in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 4-2 Charger lead and stayed unbeaten in New Lenox. After two outs, Jake Robbins reached on a critical Stagg error. Adam Knerr singled and Luke Morgan hammered a three-run bomb, his second of the season, and the Warriors led 5-4. Later in the inning, Dan Laberry’s double with the bases loaded drove home three more Warrior runs.
Warren 3, No. 25 Grant 0
Warren (9-2-1) surprised the 25th ranked Bulldogs as senior RHP Wes Gordon fired a four-hit shutout and senior Ben Dinter provided Gordon with the only run he would need when he homered over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the fifth. Juniors Jacob Falish and Brad Zahn both singled and drove home a run for the Blue Devils.
