There are eight months until the 2017 Major League Draft and everybody in baseball knows things can and will change, but the early impressions of the 2017 high school class are strong. That is evident as you sift through the names in the 2017 PBR Draft 100.

The PBR Draft 100 ranks the top high school prospects eligible for the upcoming draft, including players outside of Prep Baseball Report’s coverage area of 34 states. This list is compiled after months of seeing games across the country and conversations with scouts and college recruiters.

Taking the top spot is RHP/SS Hunter Greene (Notre Dame HS, CA), a legitimate two-way prospect and UCLA recruit. He has good actions on defense, though he’ll likely eventually outgrow shortstop, and has a loose, easy swing at the plate. However, that may all be moot as Greene produces a mid-90s fastball, wipeout slider and high-80s changeup on the mound.

SS Brady McConnell (Merritt Island HS, FL) sits in the No. 2 spot, something that no one probably expected six months ago. The Florida recruit enjoyed a meteoric rise up the rankings this summer with a hot start, which was highlighted by his Tournament of Stars performance. He has a rangy frame at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with plenty of room to add strength. His swing is quick and whippy, making hard contact and his bay stays in the zone. Defensively, his hands and feet work well and he has a strong arm with a quick, clean exchange.

At No. 3 is SS/OF Royce Lewis (JSerra HS, CA). He is put together with lean strength in his frame, checking in at 6 feet, 180 pounds. He saw some time in the infield this summer, but may be destined for center field. He runs a 6.6-second 60 and he has a loose, strong arm. Offensively, the ball flies off his barrel. He takes aggressive cuts and his quick-twitch actions produce bat speed and power.

The top pitcher not named Greene is RHP Blayne Enlow (St. Amant HS, LA). The No. 4 prospect in the class, Enlow has a projectable frame and sits in the low 90s with his fastball while mixing in a sharp slider in the low 80s. Stuff aside, he was one of the top performers this summer, striking out 16 and walking none in nine innings between TOS and East Coast Pro.

OF Garrett Mitchell (Orange Lutheran HS, CA) takes the No. 5 spot. He is a plus runner, turning in a 6.45 60 at TOS, which helps him cover ground in the outfield. At the plate, he makes hard contact and has good bat speed from the left side.

Rounding out the top 10 are OF/RHP Jordon Adell (Ballard HS, KY), LHP Trevor Rogers (Carlsbad HS, NM), RHP Hans Crouse (Dana Hills HS, CA), LHP D.L. Hall (Valdosta HS, GA) and RHP Shane Baz (Concordia Lutheran HS, TX).
