Updated PIAA Class AAAA Super 16 (5-4-15)

As we head down the home stretch of this weather-condensed season that has many leagues gearing up for conference tournaments, below is our second in-season update of our PIAA Class AAAA Super 16 (i.e. the teams we believe are best positioned to reach the state tournament, if district tournaments started today). A couple of notes:

1. X-Y under "Berth" = [District]-[Bid]. For example, 3-2 is the runner-up from District III.
2. If multiple districts are listed on one line, those districts will form a sub-regional to determine that bid.
3. If any of this data is incorrect (specifically, team records), please let us know.

2015 PIAA Class AAAA Super 16 (records through May 3rd)
Berth School Record Notes
1-1 Central Bucks East 10-4 Went 6-0 since last update. The Patriots are on fire, having posted wins over every other division contender in the last two weeks to push themselves to the top of the rugged SOL Continental. Have won nine of last ten overall.
3-3 Penn Manor 15-3 Went 4-2 since last update. A second agonizingly close loss to district favorite Hempfield doesn't change the outlook for the Comets, who have allowed two runs or less in seven of their last eight games.
       
11-1 Parkland
18-1
 Went 8-1 since last update. Pitching staff has allowed 16 runs all season, while allowing more than one run only twice. And, unlike last year, the Trojans are getting consistent offensive production (composite .344 AVG & .438 OBP) to support their dominant arms.
1-3 North Penn 10-3
 Went 3-3 since last update. Following a 7-0 start to the season, the Knights stubbed their toe a bit recently, but still find themselves in a tie for first place with CB East in the SOL Continental.
       
2-1/
4-1		 Wyoming Valley West 8-1
 Went 3-1 since last update. The Spartans continue to hold this spot by the slimmest of margins (a 5-4, 9-inning win) over a Hazleton Area squad that has run its record to 12-3 following a 9-game winning streak that was snapped on Saturday.
3-2 Lower Dauphin 15-3 Went 4-2 since last update. The Falcons now find themselves tied atop the Mid-Penn Keystone Division with Mechanicsburg Area, which they beat 2-1 a week ago today.
       
12-1 La Salle 10-4 Went 4-1 since last update. St. Joseph's Prep is rolling (9-game win streak) and sits a game ahead of the Explorers in the Philadelphia Catholic League, but La Salle stays here by virtue of 14-4 mercy-rule win over SJP last month.
1-4 Wissahickon 12-2 Went 5-1 since last update. The Trojans lead the SOL American Division, although a lower strength of schedule gives them less margin for error here than most. Slot above Pennsbury due to 5-2 non-league W over the Falcons.
       
3-1 Hempfield 16-2 Went 6-0 since last update. Pitching staff has allowed 15 runs during current ten-game win streak and two runs or less twelve times on the season. Swept season series against Penn Manor.
1-5 Pennsbury 13-2 Went 6-0 since last update. Currently riding an eight-game win streak during which the pitching staff has not allowed more than three runs in any game. Have a two-game lead in the solid SOL National Division.
       
1-2 Boyertown Area 14-3 Went 7-0 since last update. The Bears have steamrolled their way to the top of the PAC-10, and sit just one win away from clinching the regular-season crown. Convincingly swept season series over preseason favorite Spring-Ford.
12-2 Frankford 9-2
 Went 4-1 since last update. The Pioneers sit atop Philadelphia Public League Division A following an undefeated April courtesy of a 9-game win streak.
       
7-1 Mt. Lebanon 14-1 Went 6-0 since last update, allowing only eight runs during that stretch. The Blue Devils have clinched the WPIAL 4A Section 5 crown and are gunning for the top seed in the WPIAL tournament.
7-3 Seneca Valley 10-5 Went 5-1 since last update. Here we go again with this group. After another slow start (lost four of five to open the season), the Raiders have ripped off wins in nine of their last ten to lock down the WPIAL 4A Section 1 title.

8-1/
9-1/
10-1		 Altoona Area 12-2 Went 3-2 since last update. New entrant here, as the Lions 8-7 win over Central Mountain (the previous holder of this spot) gives them as good an argument as anyone else to be considered the subregional favorite.
7-2 Plum 17-2 Went 6-1 since last update. The Mustangs pitching staff has held opponents to three runs or less in all but three games, with only one opponent able to post more than four.
