Updated Class of 2016 Rankings Released Prior to Fall Program

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Max KranickThe updated PA Class of 2016 rankings go 160 prospects deep and will continue to grow to more than 300 by the time this class heads off to college. The top end talent in this class is dominated by pitchers and middle infielders with six Division I commits among the top eight spots.

No school has had greater success in luring the services of the top recruits in this class than Virginia. The Cavaliers have landed two of the top six and three of the top 14 prospects the class has to offer. Close behind are Pitt and Kent State which have each landed two prospects among the top 25 spots.

Still sitting atop the Class of 2016 rankings is RHP/SS Max Kranick (Valley View). The Virginia commit had hovered near the top of the rankings since their inception and remains at No. 1 for the third consecutive month.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior is a talented two way prospect that will likely concentrate on pitching only at the next level. His fastball sits in the 87-89 range and the junior has topped in the low 90s consistently over the summer months. Kranick also has an upper 70s slider and an 80 mph changeup in his arsenal of pitches.
