Bailey McGrath (Bridgeport HS, OH) made a short drive across the border to participate yesterday at the Western PA College Prospect Showcase. The 5-foot-8, 185-pound SS/3B made that trip worthwhile by showing very well. McGrath is a solidly built right-handed hitter that showcased an 86 mph bat exit velocity with a short, compact swing. He displayed the ability to barrel the baseball consistently and the potential for some gap power. The junior is a career .450 hitter in high school with 71 runs scored and 44 RBI.
McGrath demonstrated the ability to make all plays defensively with a 73 mph arm across the diamond. Because of his frame and his current arm strength, he projects as a 2B at the next level. The junior also showcased good feet with a 4.35 home-to-1B time.
McGrath was recently honored as an All-Ohio Division VII third team defensive back for his play this past fall on the gridiron.
