February 22, 2013
By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting
Zach Smiley is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound 3B/1B from Spring-Ford HS. He hit .481 over the summer of 2012 to lead Spring City to the PA Junior Legion State Title. Along the way he was named the league and state tournament Offensive MVP. Smiley showed promise at the Eastern PA Open ID Showcase in January where he threw 76 mph across the infield. He showcased an 81 mph bat exit velocity and a strong lower half. Smiley consistently squared baseballs and exhibited power potential to the pull side. His short swing path and solid build allow him to be short and explosive to the baseball creating significant barrel whip. Smiley will be participating in the Preseason All-State Showcase on February 23 at B2B Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA.
