Clearfield @ PUnxsutawney (april 9)
On a sunny, 75 degree day Punxsutawney answered three runs scored by Clearfield in the top of the 2nd inning with six runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Three Punxsy pitchers combined to register nine strikeouts on the day keeping the Bison off the scoreboard after the 2nd inning uprising. The Chucks scored two insurance runs in the 4th inning and coasted to the 8-3 win.
Clearfield did not start a single senior in their lineup. Their coaching staff was not trying something new; they don't have any seniors on the roster. Clearfield's starters included four sophomores and five juniors. The future looks bright for the Bison.
+ Punxsutawney catcher Ryan Sloniger showcased his advanced abilities behind the plate. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect is currently ranked No. 11 in the PA Class of 2015 in large part because of his abilities to defend. He controlled the Bison running game with his ability to block the baseball and his sub 2.00 pop times.
+ Clearfield 1B Thomas Summers went 2-for-4 with a single and a double. Summers also squared the ball up in his final at bat when he lined out to second base. The sophomore three-hitter showed good hands and a short path to the baseball hitting out of a slightly open stance.
