Q&A With Seton Hill University Commit Ryan Wardropper

Ryan Wardropper3B Ryan Wardropper (Elizabeth Forward HS) has a lot of the qualities that college coaches look for in a potential recruit. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete runs a 7.37 60-yard dash and has a solid 84 mph arm across the diamond. He hits for average and has some pop from the left side of the plate. Wardropper has good feet and quarterbacks his high school football team in the fall.

The left-handed hitter, ranked No. 151 in the PA Class of 2014, recently committed to Seton Hill University. He discussed his decision and the recruiting process with Prep Baseball Report.


PBR:  Where have you decided to attend college?

Wardropper: I have chosen to attend Seton Hill University.

PBR:  What other schools were you considering?

Wardropper: I had also been considering Penn State Behrend, Heidelburg, Washington & Jefferson, IUP and Concord University.

PBR:  Was distance from home a factor in your decision?

Wardropper: No not really, it is nice being close to home though.

PBR:  Where did the coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with their coaching staff?

Wardropper: The Seton Hill coaches first saw me at a summer baseball tournament with the B2B Bombers.  My relationship grew throughout the summer with the coaches and also during my visits to campus.

PBR:  What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help your team?

Wardropper: I feel my biggest strength is hitting and a team can never have too many hitters!

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience from this past summer?

Wardropper: I played for the B2B Bombers this summer.  I’d have to say my most memorable experience was our team sleepover at B2B and playing Kan-Jam at tournaments all over the east coast!

PBR:  What is your current GPA?

Wardropper: My current GPA is a 3.4.

PBR:  Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season? 

Wardropper:  I plan to continue working hard and getting better every day.  Our goal as a team is to be a competitive playoff team this year.

PBR: How did Prep Baseball Report aid you in gaining exposure as a potential college baseball recruit?

Wardropper: Prep Baseball Report is what aided me in getting my name out there to college coaches and gave me many opportunities to get out in front of them and play.  It also gave me connections to a great summer team this past summer that brought me offers for college baseball.
