There is one week until the culminating event of the fall, the Elite Prospect Showcase. Registrations for the event will not close until October 29, but today we take a look at some of the top corner infield prospects that are scheduled to attend.
1B/OF Kevin Barron, Hatboro-Horsham HS, Class of 2015
Barron is an athletic 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect that showed well at several PBR events over the summer and fall, including the Midwest Future Games as a member of Team Pennsylvania. Barron was particularly impressive in the fall program where he showed that he is more than capable of playing a corner outfield position at the next level. Barron displayed athletic actions and an 85 mph arm from the outfield. The right-handed hitter showcased power potential out of a slightly open stance with solid extension to his swing during batting practice. Barron has a bat exit velocity of 88 mph and went 2-for-8 at the plate in game action, including a two-run home run at Temple University.
3B/RHP Nicky D'Amore, Neumann-Goretti HS, Class of 2016
D'Amore is a 6-foot, 185-pound sophomore that that shows promise as a two-way prospect in this class. He showed well in all facets of the game during the Fall College Prospect Program. The right handed hitter utilizes a square stance and has good rhythm to his swing. He barreled everything in batting practice and showcased the ability to use all fields. D'Amore also displayed athletic actions and the ability to make plays on the move at 3B with an 82 mph arm across the diamond. The righty finished his all-around performance by sitting 80-82 in his time on the mound.
3B/SS Christian Fedko, Vincentian Academy, Class of 2017
Fedko served notice that he will be among the ranked players in this class when the first round of rankings are released in June of 2014. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitter uses a leg lift trigger and an explosive lower half to create barrel whip. Fedko showcased a bat exit velocity of 79 mph and went 3-for-6 in game action during the Fall College Prospect Program. He will need to continue to develop arm strength and work on his footwork to elevate himself into an elite prospect in this class, but showed the raw tools necessary to become a highly recruited player.
1B Riley Mihalik, Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy, Class of 2015
Mihalik has made the move from Council Rock South to Springside-Chestnut Hill. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound left-handed hitter has shown an 88 mph bat exit velocity and legitimate power potential. Mihalik uses a fluid rhythm and good extension to create barrel whip through the zone. He has also impressed as a fielder with soft hands and good footwork around the first base bag.
