Szumigala showed solid actions and arm strength, while doing a nice job fielding ground balls out front. He is more than just a spectator on defense, actively calling multiple pick plays with runners at second base. He hits from a square, even stance and gets his foot down early. He has shown quick hands and run a top home-to-1B time of 4.34. Szumigala hit .292 with a .403 on-base percentage out of Pennsbury's two-hold as a junior.
