Daniel Sabath hasn't been perfect this year, but he's been pretty close. The Christopher Dock Mennonite junior right-handed pitcher has gone 6-0 in leading the Pioneers to a 11-0 overall record. Sabath has worked 26 innings allowing just 12 hits and has a miniscule 0.54 ERA.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder, currently ranked No. 99 in the PA Class of 2017, sat 79-81 from a 3/4 arm slot with a significant hip-coil to his delivery at the Preseason All-State Showcase in February. Sabath also incorporates an overhead rocker that adds to the deception with some arm-side run to his fastball. The junior's changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed with the same fade and some late sink. Sabath's 73 mph slider gives him three quality pitches with a quirky delivery that will give him an opportunity to get outs early at the next level.
Just past the midway point of the regular season Sabath has shown outstanding command (44 strikeouts against just two walks). Opposing hitters are batting just .135 against him and Sabath has thrown just 319 pitches in his 26 innings, an average of just over 12 an inning.
