Pennsylvania Preseason Top 25 Team Rankings

The 2013 Pennsylvania high school season officially begins this week with regular season games for independent schools. PIAA schools are into their second week of practices with official games kicking off on March 22.

With a year of covering high school baseball teams and prospects around the state under our belt we turn our attention to the 2013 season. After a winter of evaluating prospects, compiling rosters and interviewing coaches we have come up with our initial Top 25 team rankings for the new season. What we know about this initial poll is that the teams that are represented have a wealth of talented prospects. What we don't know is how that will equate in terms of wins and losses.

As we move through the season the teams in the original Top 25 are likely to become jumbled. The order will change on a weekly basis with some teams dropping out of the poll and others finding their way in.

While preseason polls at any level in any sport border on the ridiculous they do make great conversation pieces. Our poll pays tribute to the top two teams in the final poll from 2012. The top two teams in our preseaon poll are the defending PIAA Class AAAA Champions, LaSalle College HS and the defending Independent Schools State Champions, Malvern Prep. While both teams took hits to graduation they sit atop the poll until someone knocks them from the spot.
