Midwest Future Games Review: Team PA Corner Infielders

By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting

Team Pennsylvania carried three corner infielders on its roster at the Midwest Future Games. Following is a look at the three prospects that shared time at 3B & 1B.

Ben Dum  Tommy Baggett  Kevin Barron

RHP/3B Ben Dum, West Perry HS, Class of 2015

Dum showcased his talents as a potential two-way player at the next level, making difficult plays at the hot corner look routine. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect displayed soft hands and an 82 mph arm across the diamond. The left-handed hitter registered the first hit of the 2013 Midwest Future Games finishing Game One 1-for-2 with an RBI.

3B/1B Tommy Baggett, Loyalsock Township HS, Class of 2015

Baggett has a prototypical corner infielder's body at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. What Baggett lacks in arm strength across the diamond (76 mph) he makes up for with good feet and the ability to field the baseball on the move. Baggett showcased an 84 mph bat exit velocity and went 2-for-6 with an RBI in game play over the course of the event.

1B Kevin Barron, Hatboro-Horsham HS, Class of 2015

Barron has a projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. The right-handed hitter has shown some power potential and a bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Barron displayed some of that potential in an impressive round of batting practice. Barron began a 5th inning rally and scored the eventual game winning run in a 6-4 win over Team Illinois.
