Game of the Day: Devon Prep Stays Unbeaten
April 9, 2015
By Greg Williams
PA Director of Scouting
On a day that saw much of the statewide schedule washed out by rain, the defending Class A state champions managed to play and were impressive. Devon Prep (4-0) scored in every inning and rolled to a convincing 12-2 win over Christopher Dock Mennonite (1-1) registering 13 hits along the way. John McSurdy and Pat Rohr combined to limit a solid Dock lineup to just four hits and one earned run. Sean Phelan (left) carried the heavy lumber for Devon Prep going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and five RBI.
Phelan, a Penn recruit, is off to a torrid start to his senior season. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-handed hitter is hitting .636 with eight RBI and has a .750 on base percentage out of the cleanup spot in the order. Tony Gallo (right), a Lehigh commit, is not far behind. Hitting behind Phelan in the lineup, Gallo has five RBI in four games and is hitting at a .462 clip.
