State College Area clinched the Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division title with a win over Mifflin County on Thursday in State College. Mifflin County turned the tables on the Little Lions on Friday with a 7-0 win to split the two-day home and home series.
The day belonged to senior RHP Heath Hidlay (right) who used a fastball, changeup and curveball mix to keep the Little Lions at bay. Although he allowed six hits, it was not until the 7th inning that he allowed more than one in an inning. Hidlay was efficient and never faced more than four hitters in an inning until the final frame.
The Huskies were led offensively by John Michael Maclay who went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. The senior catcher's solo home run in the 4th inning capped the scoring for the day.
The Huskies broke open a 2-0 game in the 3rd inning when they scored four times on just one hit. State College pitchers issued four walks and hit one batter in the inning leading to the crooked number.
